For those who celebrate gift-giving holidays, we’ve made a list of some great ideas to give the mountain biking enthusiast in your life. (That could definitely be yourself…lots of pre-holiday sales coming up!) Outdoor-adventure-themed gifts not only provide utility, but also promote physical health, Vitamin -D processing, emotional wellness, and dopamine-filled memories that can last a lifetime. Below we’ve provided a plethora of ideas and links to some of our team favorites! (We can’t stop you from accidentally forwarding this page… just sayin’.)
Bike tools can not only save the day when things go awry in the woods, but they can also save money by providing the means to do small repairs and tune-ups at home. Some basics for the garage: wrench set, floor pump (for the garage), or a bike stand! Some basics for the trail: mini pump, flat tire-repair kit, multi-use tool, and my all-time favorite: the Torqkey (many of you have seen me use this on the trail!)
Small component upgrades can make a big difference in comfort, efficiency, and fun! Some ideas are new flat pedals, grips, or a saddle.
Energy-dense, pre-packaged snacks provide easy fuel for outings and aid in post-workout recovery. Some tasty stocking stuffers are stroop waffles, nuts, electrolyte tablets, and protein bars. My personal favorite are the Honey Stinger chews.
Women in the Mountains branded water bottles are the perfect way to round out your favorite rider’s kit! Other hydration systems such as backpacks or hip packs are indispensable for short loops or all-day adventures.
The Women in the Mountains branded hat is great to cover up your “helmet-hair” post-ride.
Mountain-biking-specific clothes not only make riding more comfortable, but they are also important for temperature regulation, protection from elements (and branches), and overall safety. The rider in your life will almost certainly love a new jersey, baggy shorts, full-fingered biking gloves, biking-specific socks, cold-weather pants, a biking jacket, and/or an under-helmet cap for cool days. And for my all-time favorite on and off-trail wear, the POC Thermal Hoodie is on sale right now (and pictured below)! Of course, to look super cute, our Women in the Mountains branded socks are the best:)
Mountain bike helmets should be replaced every five years. Women in the Mountains coaches wear and love the POC Kortal.
Activity-tracking watches are a fun way to help motivate riders to go more often, faster, and farther.
Sunglasses make sunny days more comfortable and keep retinas healthy. (A really nice pair of POC lenses may or may not help your loved one keep track of their spectacles.)
Mountain biking shoes have ultra-grippy soles that help improve efficiency as well as safety. These are the exact shoes that the coaches wear all season long and they are a great price right now!
Bike lights provide illumination for riders trying to reach a peak before sunrise or who find themselves inadvertently caught in the dark.
Bike Rack - if you are ready to knock it out of the park with gift-giving this year, the Küat Piston Pro X is truly the best bike rack to have ever been designed. For more budget-friendly and smooth design, you can go for the Kuat NV 2.0
If in doubt, stop by a local bike shop such and ask for ideas. Whatever your holiday traditions, we hope the coming weeks are filled with joy, friendship, love, sun, and adventure!
