Stan Crane Memorial Race (ICP Race # 6)

My race started out well. The expert and pro women started at the same time & I felt great right from the beginning. I was in 1st place out of the experts, I'd just passed my 3rd pro woman and was feeling awesome. Then, when I was a little more than half way on the second lap, I had serious chain suck and couldn't fix it for a full 5 1/2 minutes (my race stats show the stop). Luckily, some really nice guy stopped and fixed my bike. However, while I was trying to fix my chain, 3 expert women passed me. I was able to get back on and pass 2 of them, one right before the finish line. But I didn't get enough time to pass the girl that took 1st place. I got 2nd in expert and am glad I was able to place even though I stopped riding for so long. The girl in first won by 3 1/2 minutes, I'd like to think I could have won with a 2 minute margin, but no way to know! Here are the results. This was the first race that some of my family showed up. My Dad was there during the race and passed me a water bottle with Carbo Rocket. John & Kirkham made it to the awards ceremony along with John's sister & her family. It was great to have familiar faces there!

Finish Line Race Face (didn't know I could look so mean!)

Waiting for the officiators to fix a mix up on the podium

Here is a cool video of the race, I'm not in it, but it'll give you an idea of what it looks like to race that course.
