The sun set on Wednesday night and I met up with some people for a night ride. Then I slept for 7 hours and rode again...before the sun had risen.
The night ride was well attended, 9 people. Keeping with the theme of 9, five of the nine riders were riding Niners. Most of them were single speeds. We started out at a happy pace then it picked up and we were racing through the single track at furious speeds. I didn't want to get dropped so found myself so close to the rider (Paul) in front of me that I was using his lights to see the trail. I'm not sure that's the safest way to ride, but it sure was fun! I forgot my glasses, but the dust was much better this week, so my eyes only stung for a few hours. I got a little sleep then at 5:30 AM, with headlights again, met Bill for 15 minute intervals on the road bike on Villa. OUCH. My legs had nothing in them. And to be honest, my intervals were closer to 12 minutes and kind of lame. I guess that's what you get for back to back rides less than 12 hours apart.
