The second mid-week race ended up being very different from the first. There was a large turn-out including a competitive women's field. There were 10 Pro/Expert women, almost as many as an ICUP. I had a week to think about which category to race and then got some input from Coach Lynda. I decided to stick with the women's race, just 2 laps, and plan to pin it the whole time.
Some women I didn't know were there so I wasn't sure who was on my wheel for the first climb, I could hear someone right there. I just knew I'd dropped her by the top and didn't see or hear from her again until 1 minute from the finish line. When I realized it was a woman that was suddenly on my wheel at the end I got all sketchy and almost missed a few turns and had a sloppy finish. Luckily there was a 300 yard uphill sprint finish so I was able to pull a 1st place by just a sliver. Fun times!
