Starting with the best photo, you can see how my race ended; Wheelie!
Last year I found that the Tara Llanes Classic at Northstar is during our annual family reunion. I was hoping that Kelli would show again this year, I was feeling more prepared to race, but she was in Moab winning the big Enduro race! So I had a grand total of zero competitors, that's right, no other Pro Women showed up. I'll still count it as a first place! They told us it would be 23 miles, but it ended up being 28.4 miles, which was great, but did play with my head a bit during the race. I don't EVER look at my computer when I race, just a rule I play by. So I kept wondering why it was taking so long to race 23 miles...
Yes, I could have pushed harder, but I was pleasantly surprised that my lap times didn't diminish too much: 26: 41 (Which is KOM & QOM-clearly a few guys didn't upload their files!), 27:41, 27:27, 27:58, 28:27. But I also found out later that I wasn't pushing hard enough, I didn't beat my own QOM on
"Bumps N' Bends". That's OK though, I'm still in front of RR! She mush have not been racing the day she rode that segment.
Now for the highlight of the day: Northstar was hosting a StriderCup and we happened to show up JUST in time for the 4 year olds to race. My son and his cousin were AWESOME! (Just don't tell them that they got lapped by a girl). They were both thrilled about the medal, trophy and patch they won. My nephew even did a wheelie at the end of his race to be like his Aunt Erica!
