The forecast was for 43 degrees, wind and rain. On the drive there was low visibility and lots of moisture. It was raining when I pulled up to the course, but slowly the weather improved and we ended up with a little sun at the end. I think it was the weather deterred most of the riders in my category. Just Lucy & I rode. It's fun to stand at the starting line and know you are going to make it on the podium no matter what! There was plenty of mud and I had issues with chain suck because of the mud. One time I had to get off my bike to fix it, so I was super cautious about shifting after that. I ended up winning with a time of 1:30:57 (results). Ah, so nice to have a short race. They had to cut out a few of the higher miles on the course due to snow, so the laps were about 7 miles. We started with the Pro women, what a humbling experience. I could only hang with the tail end of them for about 3 minutes.
The 1st place prize was $25 to Brothers Bikes in Heber. I went there right after the awards ceremony and spent it on Stans Tire Sealant and some air cartridges.
