Fontana Pro XCT

In the front line at the race were 3 world cup holders, a silver medal olympian and lots of national champions. It was an honor to line up behind these women (3 rows back!). The field was 30 deep, I was the 29th to be called up, heck ya! (It's just cool to have a call up start, so I didn't mind being second to last. The call up is based on UCI points, I have 0). I finished 20th, not too bad. Just finishing was great. I fulfilled my goals for the race: I didn't get lapped and didn't finish last. It was the most acutely painful race I've ever done. My quads were beyond burning on the climbs, exquisite pain was more like it. I'm happy and recovering. I'll give a full race report by Monday evening. I was looking forward to racing Super D and Short Track, but decided to come home to relieve my husband. He's been taking care of our 2 year old who has a fever of 102 and has thrown up on the couch and in his crib. Mothering duties before racing.
