No Tubes posted a great Team Jamis Update. NoTubes has been a great support to my racing. They let me on the grass roots team in 2011. For 2012 I had an individual sponsorship and they gave me great support for my skills and nutrition clinics. This year they are supporting the entire Team Jamis. I LOVE their wheels, I've had nothing but good luck with them. I can count the number of flats on one hand that I've had in the past 4 years and I've never bent a rim. They make the highest quality wheels. Thank you Stan's No Tubes!
After the longest and roughest winter in recent memory, Team Jamis had adjusted its schedule and goals appropriately for an old school onslaught of summer centric racing. Give everyone time to get in shape, the trails to thaw and dry and target new events that previously we’d been a little worn out to try and schedule.
Little did we know that Utah based, and new addition to the team, Erica Tingey had other plans! The season opener for the ProXCT cross country series began with Mellow Johnny’s UCI C1 event in Austin, Texas, where Erica debuted with the team in a fine 8th place. Two weeks later at the 2nd round of the ProXCT series in San Dimas, CA , Erica again tore legs off her competitors, finishing the weekend in 5th place for the combined XC, short track and Super D events. This included a podium in the Super D and a wake up call for the top female competitors as she took a two-lap flyer in the middle of the STXC!
Carrying that momentum into the 3rd round of the ProXCT series in Fontana, CA, Erica secured her first XC podium, battling to a 5th place finish and positioning herself 5th overall in the series!
Said Tingey after her podium ceremony in Fontana “Today was the first step in a season long goal of mine, which is to finish in the top 5 ranked XC women in the country in the ProXCT series. Now I’m there, and its time to really get to work and hold onto this position. It was extraordinary battling out there and hearing the cheers of support for both me and my competitors, it really pushed me to dig deep and turn this dream into fruition! I can’t thank Jamis bikes enough for believing in me to help me get here, and I can’t get enough of my Dakar XCR 29′er!”
Up next for Team Jamis is round 4 of the ProXCT series at Laguna Seca’s Sea Otter Classic, then on to the Whiskey 50 in Prescott, Arizona. Erica will be joined by her Jamis teammates Rotem Ishay, Thomas Turner and Jason Sager at Sea Otter, where they then will reconnect with Blake Harlan and Skyler Trujillo in Arizona for round two of Team Jamis’ Band Camp 2013!
