I feel so incredibly lucky to have met my Montana host family; they are
genuinely great people and are going to be life long friends. My son and their
older son became fast friends immediately. I pre-rode the course and ran into
mud on Thursday. That evening, just a few minutes after meeting Doug, he
offered to clean my bike. Ummmm, YES! Talk about above and beyond, that is what
this family did for me. The next morning Jeannie and I rode over to the race
course (via trails from their house, what in incredible place to live!) and
Doug brought all 3 of the kids over to meet us. Then Doug rode and we took the
boys back to the house. They just integrated my son and me right into their
family. They came out to short track and cheered the loudest for me! Doug was a
course marshal for xc and gave me encouragement every time I passed! Afterward
Jeannie was there to offer me emotional support for a less-than-stellar
race. Staying in their nice home
in a great neighborhood just reinforces how amazing the mountain bike community
is. Once again I feel blessed to have met this family!
