They say it takes a village…well, I have a great village. It includes Utah’s fastest teenage mountain bikers, all of whom are rising stars, their parents and siblings. I was able to race in Montana primarily because of the Battens. Cathy was the one that made sure my son was safe and happy the whole time. Her kids, Haley and Nash also entertained my boy (Nash is the youngest of the bunch so the most in touch with the games of a 4 year old!). The rest of the Utah contingent included Matthew, his parents Sylvia and Mike, Anders, Zach and Josh and their Dad, Brian. Haley, Anders and Zach had spent the previous week in Colorado Springs at USAC’s talent ID camp. That’s what I mean by rising stars! Haley races with the pro women at the mid-week races and honestly crushes it! She is one that is hot on my heels!
