ICUP Race # 5 (Hammerfest at the Hollow)

The warm up for Hammerfest wasn't excacty smooth for me. I ended up with triple chainsuck, 5 minutes before lineup. You may say that isn't possible, but just talk to my hero Chris Holley who fixed it. The chain went through the front derailleur 3 times (at once) and was stuck beyond stuck. Chris happened upon me and had to pull the chain apart so we could get it out. Luckily it had a removable link, but since then the chain has died. So I pull up to the start line all stressed and not really warmed up (that was my fault for not being focused). But then I was told they were going to postpone the race for 30 minutes so the mud at on the higher elevations could dry out. I proceeded to complete my unfocused warm up and showed up, once again, at the start line not really warmed up and over-hydrated. This made my first lap really painful. I had no spark in me, my legs had no power and my stomach was sloshing. KC pulled out in front and I thought my race was over. I couldn't hang at all. I kept her somewhat in sight for lap 2 and near the end of that lap I started to gain on her. I passed her right at the beginning of the 3rd lap and was able to hold her off until the end, but it was no easy task. That means I got to stand on the top of the podium, since KC & I are the only ones that showed up for this race.
Results from the race. Garmin file.
